the power of rain

Monday (26th), the mini-drought in Brisbane did break, 53mm of delicious rain fell here and we’ve been able to throw away the chlorophyll-tinted glasses we had all taken to wearing.
Great news…..but of course rain never falls in an egalitarian fashion with places like Rockhampton still desperate for a good fall – can’t be too far [...]

Hot August night

Not the sort of record to jump up and down about – Brisbane has just recorded its hottest ever August day.
The Bureau of Meteorology thermometer touched 35.4 Celsius late this afternoon – that’s 95.7 Fahrenheit in the old language.
With this early heat wave, remembering we are still officially in winter, it’s no wonder the authorities [...]

Winter scorcher: mercury may break record

Temperatures may reach a record 32 degrees in Brisbane for the first time in more than 60 years this week, as warm north-west winds heat the south-east corner, forecasters say. (brisbanetimes.com.au)
Spring is supposed to be still 2 weeks away but let’s just all call it early summer and stop playing [...]
