about

jhphotoWe live on a semi-rural 1.5 hectares (3 3/4 acres) of land in the Samford Valley, about 25kms out of Brisbane City (Australia).

The land is a portion of a former dairy farm and was acquired in 2003 in a totally treeless state.

We started out by getting some swales dug, planting out a lot of natives and then setting about the looooooong process of getting a house designed.

Moved into the house in July ‘08 and are now more actively exploring permaculture ideas and getting the organic veggie garden started in earnest.

Have just found your blog from a link on Aussies Living Simply – have ear-marked it to keep up with your journeys through life – sound so much like ours in years past. I am now 69, and not able to live or work as I have in the past. Good luck and best wishes.

Lorraine – thanks for dropping by and leaving your well wishes

  3. Just wanted to thank you for posting weedsrock.com in your blogroll! As a newbie to both permaculture and blogging, it’s nice to be found. I love your blog, it’s fun to read about your adventures. I’ll be working on my own blogroll and you’ll be the first in. Thanks!

Elizabeth – happy to link to your blog and thanks for the return link. I really like your approach to weeds – it’s only recently that I have changed my attitude to them and I feel a better person for it!

  5. Hi James,
I started this evening searching for permaculture in Brisbane, found your site and then ended up signing up for Brisbane Local Foods after following your link.
Thankyou very much, I’m so glad to find so many people around Brisbane (and even my suburb) who are interested in growing and eating their own food.
    Margot :)

  6. Hi,

I wondered if you would be interested in exchanging links with The Green Providers Directory

We are a not-for-profit, green directory founded on ethical principles, providing links to renewable energy suppliers, organic health and beauty products, fair trade clothing, gifts and household goods and services. We also provide news and updates on the environment, recycling, energy efficiency and related topics.

We are listed in The Guardian and Channel 4’s environmental sections and on green.tv, a United Nations Environmental Programme, and we are members of Ethical Junction.

Please let me know if this would be of interest.

    Kind regards,
