We live on a semi-rural 1.5 hectares (3 3/4 acres) of land in the Samford Valley, about 25kms out of Brisbane City (Australia).
The land is a portion of a former dairy farm and was acquired in 2003 in a totally treeless state.
We started out by getting some swales dug, planting out a lot of natives and then setting about the looooooong process of getting a house designed.
Moved into the house in July ‘08 and are now more actively exploring permaculture ideas and getting the organic veggie garden started in earnest.
Have just found your blog from a link on Aussies Living Simply – have ear-marked it to keep up with your journeys through life – sound so much like ours in years past. I am now 69, and not able to live or work as I have in the past. Good luck and best wishes.
